Basic Operating Instructions
Adobe Reader version 5 or higher is required in order to use these files to their highest potential.  Please take a moment to visit the Abobe website and download the newest free version available for your operating system.   Version 7.0 or higher is the preferred version since the Adobe Acrobat Search command and features are not available in some of the older versions.  The current Adobe Reader Download web page is: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html.  Please restart your computer after the update and before trying the CD.
This CD was written in a custom Hybrid format combining both ISO 9660 and Mac OS Standard (HFS) or Mac OS extended (HFS+) format.  This format is used so that on Macintosh as well as PC (Windows) computers users will see recognizable icons and data window positions, while maintaining complete cross compatibility between DOS/Windows and Mac OS systems.
On computers running Windows, this CD should start automatically when inserted in your CD drive.  The opening screen is in HTML format which utilizes the browser on your computer to display an interactive menu much as a Website. You are not online and do not need to be to use this computer.   The links within the menu will open the specific pdf files related to each description.  If the CD does not open automatically it is most likely due to the security setting on your computer which might prevent automatic opening of files.  All computers are set up differently depending on your chosen level of security and the applications you have installed to control it.
If the CD does not start automatically you can access the opening menu by opening the CD through  the START routine within windows or simply finding the CD Drive icon located on “My Computer” and clicking it. The Start Menu is named “STARTUP.html” and it can easily be seen if the CD is opened to reveal its contents.  Just click on it and your browser should open to reveal the navigational menu. If this does not work you will need to locate the pdf files which are stored in a folder on the CD called pdfFiles.  Drag the pdf files to a location on your computer, such as your desktop, and open them individually through Adobe Reader.
